Summerfields Photography is Larry and Linda Dunlap, who, for over two decades, have made their home near Pattison State Park, in the lovely Wisconsin North Woods near Lake Superior. Both Larry and Linda have been pursuing photography since 1968, using 35mm, medium format and 4x5 cameras, including the processing of their own film and prints.
Linda has maintained a life-long passion for artistry through the employment of fine and commercial art media, as well as photography. A native of Florida, she transplanted to the "Deep North" in 1986, following a professional career working in the graphics and photography departments of three prominent newspapers and a scientific research laboratory.
Larry came to the Lake Superior region from Ohio in 1966 when, just before graduating from Iowa's Luther College, he took a summer job on Isle Royale and the big lake captivated him. His career has included teaching English and photography in public and private schools and working as a writer and photographer for area newspapers and on the staff of Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin.
Upon Larry's retirement from the Duluth Public Library in 2006, the couple began photographing as a team, focusing on creating a portfolio of beautiful images collected from the North Woods and Lake Superior area. Their aim is to celebrate the unique landscapes and intimate details of this region's natural wonders and offer them for the enjoyment of viewers now and for posterity.
The two have become frequent contributors to Lake Superior Magazine, its calendars and other publications. They have prints and greeting cards available in regional shops and galleries.
