Marian Lansky has been a professional graphic designer since 1989, many of those years spent collaborating with her husband, printmaker Rick Allen. In 2003 they started The Kenspeckle Letterpress together, and in 2009, after years of doing client work she began to harness all that leftover creativity to produce her own artwork under the name “Shy Nimitta.”
Her giclee prints are collages of found engravings and photographed objects combined with color and line and sometimes with the beautiful magnified dot patterns found in vintage commercial printing.
Marian grew up in New York City and attended the High School of Music and Art before dropping out of college in 1970 and settling eventually in Minnesota.
She and Rick live and work together in Duluth, the Paris of the North.
