Nationally and internationally known artist, Hazel was born in southern Ohio, moved to New York City in 1960 where she met and was influenced by major abstract expressionists. Hazel lived in Provencetown, MA for seventeen years and now makes her home in Minneapolis and Grand Marais, MN.

Hazel was a Bunting Institute Scholar at Radcliffe College, Harvard Univ. and received her graduate degree at the Univ. of MN. She is a Proffessor Emeritus at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and is listed in the "World Who's Who of Women."
