FRANKLIN GALAMBOS
Franklin Galambos and his wife Leslie live in the woods of Pennsylvania. With Leslie as his studio assistant, Franklin has dedicated himself to capturing the tranquility of his surroundings in his artwork. His etchings are cherished by all collectors throughout the country due both to their imagery and technical mastery.
Many of the images are multiple etchings, carefully rubbed with several tones of black, gray, and brown ink. The plates are masterpieces of complexity and must be carefully wiped for each impression. After each print is pulled, additional colors are meticulously added with an airbrush. Franklin uses acrylic paint for the airbrushing, carefully controlling the color as he works. Some of Franklin's etchings also include berries which are individually hand colored onto the print. Each completed piece is a quiet, almost perfect understatement about the beauty of our vanishing wilderness. A reverence for this beauty shines from each piece.
For almost twenty years, collectors have responded to Franklin's unique body of work, making him one of the nation's foremost printmakers. He has had numerous one man shows in galleries and is collected by a host of individuals and corporations.
